Future of Carbon Policy Forum: Meet other climate optimists
The New York Times ran a short piece that said, “We have reason for hope on climate change”. That may seem like wishful thinking in the face of yesterday’s headline, “World hurtling to climate danger zone”. But at Clean & Prosperous Washington, we’re “glass-half-full” types. We believe that businesses, governments, non-profits, and individuals working together can make meaningful progress on climate action.
That’s why we are hosting the 4th Annual Future of Carbon Policy Forum at Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday April 14.
At the Forum, you’ll come together with some of the most influential, optimistic, action-oriented leaders in climate policy. Traveling from Washington, D.C. will be Robert Edwards, Director of Outreach and Business Development for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office (LPO).
Mr. Edwards leads LPO’s business development activities to support innovative energy projects in the U.S. that will accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy. Previously, Mr. Edwards structured and led negotiations of the groundbreaking $465 million loan to Tesla (repaid in full) issued under LPO’s Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Loan Program.
The LPO has more than $40 billion in loans and loan guarantees available to help deploy large-scale energy infrastructure projects in the United States.
Current project applications span technologies for advanced nuclear, advanced vehicles & components, biofuels, carbon capture, critical materials, EV charging, hydrogen, onshore & offshore wind, geothermal, hydropower, solar, waste-to-energy, storage, transmission, virtual power plants, and more.
LPO serves as a bridge to bankability for breakthrough projects and technologies, de-risking them at early stages of commercialization so they can reach full market acceptance.
It’s this “bridge to bankability” for Washington innovators that can help accelerate our clean economy, so we’re fortunate to hear Edwards speak about how PNW ventures can successfully apply for DoE funds.
