Is there any investment more important than the health, safety, and well-being of our students? Come “back to school” with us (on Zoom), this Friday, September 13 at noon to learn how the Cap-and-Invest Climate Commitment Act is funding safer access to schools, improved classroom experiences, and innovative university research.

According to our continued tracking of Climate Commitment Act investments, nearly $3 billion have been invested in specific projects throughout the state with more being allocated each month. From Anacortes to Yakima, from Western Washington University to Wazzu, projects are already underway or launching soon in many school districts and college campuses across the state. These include:

  • Transit Support Grants (free fares for youth riders at 30 transit agencies)
  • Energy Retrofits and Solar Power for Public Buildings
  • School District Indoor Air Quality & Energy Efficiency
  • Air Quality Monitoring at schools  in high-pollution exposure districts
  • Small District & Tribal Compact Schools Modernization
  • Community College Utility Meters
  • Major capital infrastructure projects at state universities:
    • Central Washington University Geothermal
    • Eastern Washington University Recreation Center Energy Improvements
    • Western Washington University Heating Conversion
    • Washington State University Knott Dairy Center Digester
    • UW Tacoma Gas Boiler Replacement
